Oh the places you'll go..

Jackson and I had an adventure today..to get his passport! It was quite the ordeal..so I figured I'd document it with pictures..

First, we had to get all the paperwork in order. If you didn't know, minors under 16 have to have both parents present when applying for a passport. Unless you fill out form DS-3053..which is where Chad consents that its OK for me to get the passport by myself since he can't take off work. ;) CHECK!

Then, you have to bring your application form with you along with the birth certificate. Which I found out this morning that I didn't possess. seriously.. My rummaging through all the hospital documents found the form that said "you can request the birth certificate 3-4 weeks after birth.." Oops. Mad search online..with sigh of relief that we live in the Texas capitol city.. Off to the Office of Vital Records.. Quickest turnaround I have ever had in a government office. 5 minutes. Sweet. CHECK!

Now we're off to Austin Passport Express..where the awesome guys helped me prep the paperwork and get Jackson's picture taken. Isn't his passport pic cute?? :)

Next we're off to the courthouse to get all our documents stamped and verified and raising of the right hand to swear I didn't forge Chad's signature and all that fun stuff. Let me tell you..those 3 blocks were a workout!! Straight uphill.. Thank You, again, to my lovely family members that got us the BOB. That stroller is heaven sent in those situations where you're going uphill, down a few steps, over cobble stones, and uneven sidewalks. :) CHECK!

and then back to Austin Passport Express to turn in our big envelope! Jackson should have his passport on Friday or Tuesday depending on the work schedule around the Memorial Day holiday. Can't wait to go travel the world with our little man!

Yard of the Month

Oh yes...it will be mine.

I have a new goal. I have finally progressed (digressed?) into full-on 30-something living in the 'burbs zone. And I want that Yard of the Month sign. We've got the foundation with a weed/random grass free front lawn thanks to a lot of work earlier this Spring. And now I'm going to tackle the front bed. The bed that had the crazy groundcover that has now died back and looks ridiculous. The one that serves as an entrance to my home that currently says we live in a home that's not QUITE done. (well that may be right..but I'm being very non-commital about my wall hangings..)

ANYWAYS.

I've bought the plants and will begin work when it cools off today.

And that sign will be mine. You just wait. ;)
